Escaping or Attempting to Escape from Public Training Schools, Reformatories and Public Hospitals, Penal Code Section 107

Following a conviction in criminal court, any individual housed at a public training school, reformatory or county hospital is subject to felony prosecution if he escapes or attempts to escape from the facility. Penal Code Section 107 is considered a crime against Public Justice.


If convicted under Penal Code Section 107, you are subject to the following punishment:

• A felony carrying 16 months, 2 years or 3 years of local prison pursuant to Penal Code Section 1170(h);

• A fine not to exceed $10,000;

• By imprisonment and a fine.
