The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals provided a reprieve to Rodney Reed just five days before his planned execution.1. Hours earlier, the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles recommended delaying Reed’s scheduled death by lethal injection.2 The move by Texas officials followed a national outcry to spare Reed’s life. The Innocence Project marshaled compelling evidence and a star studded list of forensic experts to undermine the Court’s confidence in Reed’s guilt. The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals directed the case back to the trial court to review credible claims of Reed’s innocence.2
